This is one of my favorites-a tempura cicada made with cricket tempura batter & served with a cricket gochujang mayo.

Interesting factoid-depending on how long the adult has been above ground, will have a significant factor in how “meaty” they are since they don’t eat after reaching full maturity.

Pictured are black ants (either Lasius niger, or Monomorium minimum). Fun fact, I always thought that the periodical cicadas life span of 17 years was incredible, but the Lasius niger queen ants have been documented to live a whopping 29 years!

We are thrilled about the emergence of the Brood XIV periodical cicadas this year. This will be our third cicada emergence, and this particular brood is actually an incredibly special one—well, they’re all very special aren’t they?!
