Part of why Netflix seemingly can't produce anything good or memorable is that "showing people exactly what they want" sucks the life out of artistic creation. No one has their life changed by a movie created in a lab to appeal to their exact marketable demographic.

I don't play enough to have a real opinion on the power level argument - I'm just thinking about the fun. I have not yet seen Nexus show up in a game and thought "this game just got more fun/interesting."
