“Journalism” and “media” are loaded words. “People don’t dislike what you do,” the toolkit states. “They dislike what they think ‘journalism’ means.” The following is set apart in a quote box: While we heard throughout the research that people value the role of local news, the word “journalism” can evoke partisanship or elitism for some audiences, while “media” sounds like entertainment to many people. In our research, “local news and information” consistently tested better than “journalism,” with participants expressing concerns that “journalism” felt too institutional or politically charged.

But I have to be so real and say a big reason I'm active on TikTok is because I am so stubborn, and I was getting really sick of seeing my work being used for other people's content. I was like, I don't like this. You are getting facts wrong. You're using my words as your green screen background with your big head in front. I think it's crazy that there's this concept of news influencers and they're not reporters. I said this on Bluesky months ago where I was like, I feel like as journalists we're ceding ground to content creators who don't know left from right, who didn't report the stories, who don't have the expertise to explain this to a general audience. And I don't like that. I don't like the idea of us taking some of it lying down.

A feature about the film director Coralie Fargeat said: "Fargeat is all smiles in the office of her production company in central London. There's a big plate of salami - she loves salami (I love salami!)." To clarify, Fargeat was not in the office of her production company but that of Working Title, and she is a vegetarian. Also, her first film, Le télégramme (2003), wOir several awards, not just two as we said.

One of the initiatives includes the introduction of wrap-around ads for their newspapers, which the Times calls "wraps." These ads, which have drawn in big advertisers, provide great visibility and help boost revenue for the print division. Typically, this includes wrapping the paper, a strip ad along the front page, and multipre run-of-paper (ROP) ads inside. Today, many of the country's leading newspapers -including the Los Angeles Times, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle and The Dallas Morning News—will be wrapped in faux, redacted versions of their own frontpages and mastheads.

polled my IG followers (mostly young, university educated Brits and Americans) about their AI search engine use and it seems like it has pretty low uptake among a group I otherwise would have thought would be model early adopters

(side note: only one of the six people who voted yes lives in the UK)

If Meta and X were confident in heading off the regulatory impositions of the EU, Brazil and elsewhere, they would not need to swing behind Trump and the new administration. The fact that they are doing so openly and unapologetically - indeed shamelessly - means they know they have a challenge, and one which they may not meet. They know that certain foreign governments and legal systems are capable of winning any head-to-head regulatory battle.
