Listen, I grew up in a cult. Took me a while because trauma, healing, etc. But, as I started to see what was done to me as abuse, I *also* started to see that same kind of abuse *EVERYWHERE*. The U.S. itself is a cult, or so close as to make little difference.

As my brain started its descent back down from the existential, it made a brief stop along the way:
There are people that see these same wonders, and their conclusion somehow becomes 'Gay and trans people shouldn't exist.'
People that can observe wonder and beauty and yet spread hate are stunted.

I thought about all of the wonders all around us and how I've been able to enjoy so many of them. About how much wonder and beauty exists and I'll barely get to see 1% of it.

The day was beautiful, bright sunshine, cool wind. There were birds of all sizes, calling out. There were flocks of dragonflies. There was the soft sound of wavelets against the riverbank.
I had one of those moments that takes you out outside of yourself and gives you an existential perspective.

Probably because as a child I loved the concept of Semaphore, and then these jagoffs mangled the word, the concept, and interviewed *Tucker Carlson*.
I blocked as many of them as quickly as I could and I feel pain every time someone quotes them :/

I am still... I guess haunted is the closest word? I'm still haunted by the fact that white people stopped masking when that study came out showing Black and other People of Color had more severe Covid outcomes.
