I like books, video games, plants, and indieweb/security/privacy topics. That's what I expect I'll talk about here 📚 🎮 🌿
I started Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana and am enjoying it so far. It’s quite different from the previous Ys title I played (Ys VIII), but I am really enjoying its brisk pace.

Silent Hill f: Atmosphere Without Attachment
When I was younger, I missed the first Silent Hill game. It was one of those games I always heard about, but never experienced. A few years ago, I decided to play it over a long holiday. I mostly played when I was the only one home and it had a predictable effect on my sleep. The game — while showing its obvious age having been released for the original PlayStation — did an excellent job of creating a foreboding mood.

2025 Apple Replay

It's the time of the year where folks do free advertising for their platform of choice share their yearly round-up of music they listened to. While it has its limits, I always have some curiosity about what my provider (Apple) catalogs about me during the year. For the most part,…

It's the time of the year where folks do free advertising for their platform of choice share their yearly round-up of music they listened to. While it has its limits, I always have some curiosity about what my provider (Apple) catalogs about me during the year. For the most part, there isn't anything too surprising, aside from the fact that I apparently listened to a lot of ScHoolboy Q in July.

Review: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Raiders of the Lost Ark — the first Indiana Jones movie — opens with an iconic scene where the archeologist Indiana Jones is exploring a cave in search of a treasured artifact. After removing the artifact, a giant trap is activated and he must run away from a 12-foot boulder down the corridor. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also opens with this scene — and amazingly — pulls it off well.

The Locust at Michigan Fest: A Unique Experience
Growing up in the punk and hardcore scene in the 1990s, I was lucky to see a lot of amazing bands and meet incredibly passionate and talented people playing music, putting on shows, publishing zines, etc. Those experiences exposed me to foundational ideas in my life (like straight edge) and gave me a place of belonging. It taught me that in many ways, culture is something that we can co-create, rather than something handed down from corporations.

My favorite new-to-me podcast this year has been the Butwhytho.net weekly show about various pop culture topics. I really enjoyed the recent Episode 100 where they reflect on the podcast https://pca.st/episode/1031ad60-fd38-4d0f-be12-2ef0bbc94f41

It was a delightful surprise to see a new episode of the Top 100 Games podcast appear in my podcast app last week. It was the first video game podcast I listened to and I l’ve thoroughly enjoyed every episode! I can’t recommend it enough!

I have been trying to play the Blitz Royale mode in Fortnite and it’s overwhelming. The whole round feels like the final minutes of a usual match once the circle has narrowed and there are just a few players left. It’s very intense!
