yep. if the public can be helped to realise the difference, and see the BBC as the 'go to' source for analysis, rather than just stenography, then maybe the country has a chance of making a more informed judgement for election purposes. not holding my breath, mind you.

the biggest service the BBC could do everyone, would be to go on the attack and stop with the 'balance' approach, which patently obviously pleases no-one, while also allowing bad faith actors to exploit it. if you want to come across as impartial, then start pulling apart all partisan offerings.

am ambivalent myself; he's a tech investor so you'd expect him to make money. what you can say looking at the longer term, is that he has brief periods of strong outperformance of the Nasdaq (see the dotcom bubble and the current AI bubble), but barely beats the Nasdaq over 30 years:

certainly not suggesting he's a genius, but it's a bit too easy to always see him as a contra. the long term price performance of the stock just doesn't confirm that.

see also the impact on US consumers from having tariffs imposed, the estimates I've seen suggest that consumers bear 2/3 of the price increase from tariffs, companies only swallowing 1/3.
