"I don't know how to fix this." Pax's bright optics are so impossibly wide and blue, cleanser beginning to brim at the corners and threatening to spill over if he just tilts his helm the wrong amount. "Please." Each word feels like yet another steel lance through the core of his being, yet another reminder of his bottomless well of mistakes all leading to a life wasted. "I'm sorry, please, I'm sorry--" Megatron places a servo nearly massive enough to cover the small cogless mech’s entire face over that intake, then swipes his thumb across the just-parted lips, every strut and joint in his entire frame aching as though a broken spark somehow has the power to manifest as physical pain. “The blame for your coming here doesn’t lie with you, Orion,” he rumbles tiredly, tucking that same thumb beneath the mech’s jaw. “It’s not your fault. Thus, you owe no apology. Least of all to me.” Least of all to me. He will kill this mech in a thousand different ways over millions upon millions of years. They will invent so many ways to hurt each other and those closest to themselves that it’ll quickly become impossible to remember the tally. Perhaps that is the reason for Pax’s inexplicable arrival. To remind him of what once was, now that he finally has the capacity to turn back and look. The impulse seizes him before caution can override it, and he bows forward to cover Pax’s intake with his own. It’s not so much a kiss as it is desperate grasping for possession; for connection. Pax or Prime, it matters little, the mech has been lost to him for millennia. This can’t be more than a few stolen moments of spacetime, but he’s taken and lost so much for so long that he couldn’t curb the pathetic greed if forced at cannon-point. Pax surfaces looking dazed and lost, and Megatron cups his servo against that hated-yet-beloved helm to take his weight without having to think twice. The tears that kept welling in those bright optics finally begin to fall, leaving messy streaks down the pristine metal of the small mech’s cheekplates. It occurs to Megatron, as though from a significant distance, how long it’s been since he’s seen the lower half of Prime’s face. There’s scarring, now. Neither of them are free of it. But this Pax is so...untouched. Unmarred. Why, beyond the grime from the mines he claims he hails from, there’s hardly a scratch on him. “You aren’t mine to keep,” Megatron tells him, forcing each word decisively out of his vocalizer like blades flaying his throat to ribbons. “You aren’t mine at all.” Pax stares up at him, still lost and adrift in a sea of tears. Then, despite it all, he opens that intake: “But what if I was?”
