For those unaware, the map below shows what Putin is trying to achieve.

He tried in Poland too by heavily supporting the PiS party, but fortunately the Polish people wised up and elected a liberal/conservative government under Tusk.

I just made this map, to give people a geopolitical view of what it is Putin is attempting to achieve.

Fortunately he has already failed in Romania, and is looking to fail on Slovakia and Moldova as well.

We've been doing it all along.

The don't need it either.

Basically Greenland has very little strategic importance, despite Trump claiming it does.

Maybe this map will tell you why:

No, there is no significant strategic advantage for Russia to hold Greenland, once the North pole melts they can just sail straight past it, and maintaining a presence there would be hugely costly.

Mig bekendt er det yderst begrænset hvad vi importerer af olie fra Rusland.

Gas er en anden snak, hvor i absolut har en pointe.

A keen observer would say "yeah, but they spend a greater part of their GDP", but that is because it's not GDP adjusted for purchasing power parity.

When you adjust the GDP per capita for PPP, it is very similar to that of the US, so the percentage spent of GDP is pretty similar too.

...only spend just over 300 bucks per capita more than you?

Yes, I was surprised too, but have a look.

And we get free healthcare, education (incl. college), government pensions and unemployment benefits, free eldercare, 6 weks paid vacation, 6 months maternity leave (both parents), etc.

You guys are debating the wrong thing Mark - it's not about how much you spend, it's about how you spend it.

Look at "expenditure per capita" for Denmark and the US - we spend the same as you, but get SO much more for the money, while running a government with a surplus of 3 % of GDP.
