It's a shame how China's crimes against humanity and nature is underplayed in leftist climate circles.

The CCP views nature only as a resource to get rich or an obstacle to be demolished if it get in the way. NIMBYism is bad, but China needs more of it.

It's a known idiom, but the bit about sex is is own creation.

The video and paper seem to suggest that the 0.4c per decade is likely but not confirmed just yet.

I wouldn't bet against it, but it's not conclusive yet.

Thank you for your contined great content on the climate. If you don't mind, I think you should have higher resolution videos as 360p in this day and age is quite jarring.

This is shocking and bad but, the real meaningful insight lies in what happens towards the end of the year.

If the ice doesn't recover like it has in previous years, that's a strong signal that this isn't seasonal, and so the collapse of civilisation has been fast forwarded a lot.

What's fascinating to me is the sharp dip and recovery. Why is it not more gradual and why does it recover by the end of the year?

I think it's fact that Hallam is in prison. While academic doomerism is fair enough, getting jailed for it sets you apart.

Thank you for pointing this out, I've seen far too many climate scientists who simply refuse to confont the geopolitical, and human psychological factors preventing us from doing anything more significant.

We humans have a strong track record of doing things are harmful to us in the long run.

JEESUS. Putin is about to make Russians into an endangered species.

Adn then what happens to these people? Do they go back to where they came from or end up in Europe?

I'm increasingly inclined to think that Guenther is a grifter, similar to Hannah Ritchie.

People like her clearly are not interested in the truth. Seems to me, they just want to sell their book and curry favour with the likes of Bill Gates, to get a slice of the billionaire funding pie.

If our industrial civilisation collapses, there's no chance another one springs up again.

Future civilisations won't have easy access to fossil fuels, I don't think comprehend how much knowledge sophisticated tech is needed to create wind turbines and solar panels.

I think it'll be post 2030. I'm a doomer but I find it hard to envision such a breakdown in just 3 to 5 years.

Our civilisation is one big lumbering beast, it'll take a while to fall... but once it hits the ground, it'll shatter.

It all depends on a global trigger, like breadbasket failure

Yeah, as non-American, the US-centric views of American collapsenics is really annoying.

This is bigger than the (often petty) political squabbles of one nation.

it's got both water scarcity and flooding risk due to the himalayan glaciers melting, and India controlling its water supply.

It's extremely overpopulated, and dirt poor. It's practically a feudal society, and a client state of China (previously the US).

Definitely one to watch.

Pakistan is in my top 3 candidate for the first major country to collapse due to climate.

Nothing scientific, just speculation from reading on the topic.

Pakistan is a near perflect blend of vulnerability and inability to mitigate it.

Even if we get to net zero in terms of human produced CO2, the permafrost melt, forest fires etc. will likely make up for a lot of it.

Look, this shit is horrific, but there's no need to lie.

Russia and North Korean don't have disabled people to protest because they're dead or housebound.

It's less a case of not knowing what to do, but more about the time and effort.

I like to work out, and it's a struggle hitting my protein target even with protein shakes. I could do it plants if I had a lot more free time to prepare just the right vegan dishes.

As a compromise I don't eat beef.
