Hello everyone! My name is Britta, I am an artist attending the Savannah College of Art and Design focusing on Storyboards for Animated Feature Films.
Very excited to share this illustration for my Illustration 383: Book Illustration class pre-quarter assignment. This class will be a lot of work, but will allow me to produce a book dummy for my children’s book! What’s a book dummy? It’s like a proof of concept. I’m ready to dive into this course!

I am very excited to have a final design of the doll for my children’s book! The protagonist made this doll for a contest in hopes her idea would be picked up. Little does she know, her doll would be the light of a little girl’s world.

Happy holidays everyone! I hope you have a wonderful time and have very merry days!

I wanted to challenge myself to make an illustration that does not have linework since I do a lot of work with outlines. Hope you enjoy this wintery scene to get you in the spirit!

Does this look chaotic? Yes? Good! Now find those ten anchovies 😁

Illustration was for someone who had a special family tradition. She asked me to create a Where’s Waldo type illustration that hides 10 cans of anchovies! Can you find them all?

I am so excited to be thinking about my book! I knew from the start that a doll would be a big part of the story. This doll resembles Albinism features. This doll (and a special ittle girl with Albinism) become the pivotal moment where the protagonist understands her need is different from her want.

Early ideation of my second character, Kienna! Her shape language is more circular. Circles in stories can mean the character is playful and bubbly. Kienna also has aspects of squares to reflect the shape language of Ellie. Ellie becomes a mentor to the young girl. More to come!

Did a drawing in Procreate based on something I saw while on the Disney cruise to practice with the different tools!

Yesterday I downloaded Procreate for the first time. I made this doodle to get myself accustomed to drawing on an iPad!
I am very excited to have this tool as I’m now able to take my work anywhere and present it more efficiently during events like Career Fair at SCAD or Lightbox. Hope you enjoy!

Early ideation of my protagonist, Ellie! Ellie’s shape language is more square like. Squares in storytelling can mean the character is reliable, strong, a leader. I wanted Ellie to also have aspects of circular forms as well to reflect the shape language of our secondary character, stay tuned!
