Sorry to hear of the passing of conductor Neville Dilkes, aged 94. His wonderful recording of Moeran’s Symphony in G Minor was my introduction to the piece. Many other excellent recordings with English Sinfonia, I recall.

I can recommend this - got it last year and at the same time listened to everything of is that’s been recorded. There are still several gaps.

A couple of terrific releases out today. On Chandos Records, John Wilson & Sinfonia of London in all-Walton. Charlie Lovell-Jones joins them in the Violin Concerto & a new arrangement of the Troilus & Cressida Suite. Plus Portsmouth Point. Well worth a weekend spin!

Try the Prelude & Idyll for soprano, baritone & orchestra. His last work & one of his most ravishing.
