A lost gem of British TV
One with Dr Who connections with Peter in the starring role and support from David Troughton and Graham Crowden (whose performance is somewhat more nuanced than the one he gave in Horns of Nimon)
A brand-new episode of World of Telly is out now, and this week we book an appointment with A Very Peculiar Practice. Now available wherever you get your podcasts. A video version of this episode will be released later this weekend.

At Oktoberfest in Southern Pines.
An interesting range of beers.
A very good breakfast stout from Wilmington.

And an Imperial Stout from Illinois, at nearly 15%ABV. Not a session beer

People we meet as children have an impact:
My Dad’s best friend’s SO was black
I met an Auschwitz survivor
I met Stalin’s daughter
My Dad served in WW2

I look at the current US leadership with a mix of fear and
Loathing, for I have heard this story before.

I have a suggestion to cut paper waste.

Instead of printing copies of the constitution and federal register, we can, based on the Supreme Court decisions, print one sign with Trump saying “I am the law”.

I scored zero.
I could’ve claimed one for the Walkman as my I had a Sanyo knockoff rather than the Sony. But I assumed Walkman was being used like Hoover; a brand name being used to describe a generic device.
I have 1 point

I’ve never used Fax xD -

The Thursday Murder Club was a star-studded delight.
Good performances all around, but the stand out was Naomi Ackie who stole every scene in which she appeared, often just by her expressions.

I hope for more films in the series

My 1st and deepest TV love is for Dr Who. I first watched it 54 years ago. It has a lot of history both on screen and in books

Behind it are Buffy, BSG, Firefly, Wonderfalls, and Gilmore Girls

1 of these are not like the others

Just got to Paradise Towers in my classic series rewatch.

I still enjoy it as my favourite of that season; a low bar, I know.

Yes, all of the performances are overstated, but that just adds to the surreal feeling of the story.

Build high for happiness

I am a pedant about many things. How to make a Martini is one of those things.
I was in a local restaurant and we had a drink the bar. They had a great Gin selection so I ordered a Martini. A Gin from Asheville. The bar tender stirred it. Instant big gratuity.

Given my name it is ironic that i am in awe of Giants

The world is full of white men who are competent guitarists with an ok singing voices. Many of them can write songs about the neighborhood in which they grew up.

But only one of that multitude is Bruce Springsteen.

that is why AI can never replace artists.

One should never trust AI answers

But, Grok puts Stalin as being responsible for 6-9 million deaths

And deaths due to cuts in USAID at 14 million

So another source that suggests Musk is two times more effective than Stalin

Clearly neither reach Mao levels.

Reached “Mark of the Rani” in my rewatch of classic Who,
Has a special place in my heart as I visited its film location many years ago in the company of Anthony Ainley, Colin, and Nicola. All of whom were charming
Best story by Pip and Jane (a low bar)

Any suggestions for expensive medications for which I can ask my Doctor?
I want to take full advantage of the 1500% reduction
My previous $10 means my pharmacy will only pay me $140

I enjoy playing card games. Some of these games involve taking tricks and these often have a suite that beats the other three.
I need a new name for this special suite, as the old one is now a word I have no wish to utter in any positive context.

Old enough to remember when I was naive enough to think that it was universally accepted that
Genocide is bad
Nazis are bad

I was wrong. But I liked living with the delusion.

Superman was fun.
An excellent Lex Luther.
Humour and a story that rattles along and introduces possible heroes for future films.
Once more showing how well Gunn understands what makes a movie work.
And an appearance of James’ more famous brother - Kirk from Gilmore Girls

Before my time as a baseball fan. But sad to hear that A’s Dave Parker has died. He was a month away from being inducted into Cooperstown.

I’ve got a joke about An Unearthly Child, but the author won’t let me repeat it

For the first time since before the pandemic, I went to a ball game.
My last one was a play off game in Oakland, which the Athletics lost to The Rays.
Last night it was a AA game in North Little Rock. Not the same, yet the joy of watching baseball remains

Eating at airport. Sharing booth with stranger. QR code ordering. Our bills were combined. Asked for them to be split. Server looks to the woman and says you had the wine?
Gender stereotypes. I had ordered the wine. Liz was the one who had ordered beer

Saw a misprint in an article about the vote to confirm new FCC member.
Listed Fetterman as D-PA. Surely that should be R-PA.
