Yeah, I think you're right - it just can't be made to catch fire and feel modern, no matter what trendy trappings they try to hang on it. True of young Alfred as well as young Winston.

Yes, there's a lot of that. To create contrast, Michael York really ups the roister-doistering Viking quotient too!
