Certainly, it sounds like a misunderstanding. The turmoil of having one's perspective misunderstood or get twisted can be awkward. But I think as long as it's not a regular occurrence with them putting you on the spot, it might as well be chalked up to ppl being human, which you are too. :)

I don't particularly think that being in groups, online or otherwise, where people make it a point to embarrass you or make you feel uncomfortable, is worth staying in, honestly. One thing is doing it unintentionally. Another thing is purposefully doing it to someone, imho.
