Nowadays we have the chuds stealing "redpill" as a term for "ingesting dipshit conspiracy theories whole", but around the release there was a lot of viewpoint of the Matrix as avowing amoral, purely selfish anarchy - the idea that it's okay to burn everything down and hurt ordinary people

I think part of the reason that they're less good, and that they're hated disproportionately to how much less good they were, is that quite a few pretty core plot points in 2 (which carry on to 3) are in reaction to dudebro and chuds taking the exact wrong message from 1.

Maybe it's the argument for conformity from people who are themselves not part of the majority? e.g. the "Homophile Movement" of the 50s, people who whinge about the more extra parts of pride parades? People whose argument is that queer people who won't "act normal" are why equality isn't happening.

The GQP is actively responsible for dragging the Overton window so far to the right that even our progressives are left-center at -best- by, say, European Overton standards. To claim that they've "gone left" when they're at -best- in the same place where they've always been is ridiculous.
