Yeah, honestly, the venue decision was the tiny domino in the escalating domino-size meme. The panels I attended were great - so many aca-fan discussions that treated fandom as a valid medium for analysis. If it'd happened at an affordable venue, we'd all be planning to attend Dashcon 11 next year.
