A friend purchased Koi water color paints for me for my birthday so I had to give them a try….and see how my mixed media layers worked on top. I thought they were lovely to use but the layers were necessary. It was too flat for me, although this was just my first attempt.

Step one - gouache layer. No plan here. Not even this gorgeous colour palette. Just creating 3 at once and seeing how different each end up.

In my adult art class last night we worked on a greenhouse in mixed media with the help of masking fluid. It was multiple layers of watercolour and then additional details with other tools on hand. A fun idea that had us excited about spring and summer. #ferniebc #mixedmediaart #maskingfluid

Trying out Arches Watercolour Paper for the first time. It’s wonderful. It feels good, absorbs well, has a beautiful, creamy white colour to it. Thank goodness for 50% off Michael’s coupons or this might not have happened.
