met a cool girl last weekend who studies carnivorous plants in california bogs :) she takes samples and analyzes nitrogen content. looks at use of nitrogen by native vs non-native plants — to see if the non-natives are invasive and messing up the ecosystem! 🌿 pics from a mendocino, ca bog

totally! thinking about geologic timescales makes me feel very small lol. i went camping last weekend and came across this infographic which relates geology to the terraced forest that formed in that area. it suggests 1km formed every 100,000 years!
