I feel like there’s a nuance lost for most on this. The goal of Hamas - stated - is to destroy Israel and all its people. If Hamas achieves that goal, there will be a legitimate genocide.
Even though Israel has problems doesn’t mean the enterprise should be ended - any more than any other state.

Sadly, I feel as though a 2 state solution was lost in the early 2000s. I don’t know how we can get back to it. I don’t know who even is there to negotiate with on the Palestinian side. And I don’t think there’s anyone on the Israeli side who wants to (or has the political capital to do so)

If the worst thing done to them is that they were forcibly and violently torn from their family friends and homes and held in a tunnel for 15 months, that is still torture.
If they described any other cruelty while captive, you would likely dismiss it as propaganda.

Hamas ABSOLUTELY was the manifestation of Palestinian Self-Determination. When Israel left Gaza in 2005, there was no blockade or wall. But Hamas killed all of their political opponents, and then began another Intifada which resulted in buses and restaurants being blown up in Israel.

That is Wikipedia. It could have literally been updated by Hamas. It is an unreliable source of information, especially as it relates to anything related to Jews or Israel. But even Hamas probably don’t know where this family is.

That is incorrect. One woman was abducted from her home. One was taken while escaping from the Nova Music Festival Massacre. One was taken from her parents home where she was visiting from Northern Israel. All of them were abducted on Oct 7, 2023.

The fact that Israel has the Iron Dome doesn’t change the fact that if Hamas COULD, they absolutely WOULD kill many, many more. That’s not one-sided at all, except in effect.

Even this comment is suspect - should we ignore Hamas’ _intent_ to kill Israeli civilians? Thousands of rockets over the last 18 months which have more than an inconvenience for Israeli lives.

Oh, we KNOW how that would play out. Between Hezbollah and Hamas, after the Iron Dome rockets ran out, millions (and I really mean millions) of dead Jews. We know because it’s what Hamas and Hezbollah says in their charters and all of their overt statements. They truly want to cleanse Israel.
