Every once in a while I remember that this site exists.
I never know what to post here, though. It's always so quiet.

Defunding government departments that produce more economic benefit than their operating costs isn't actually going to save the country money.
Yes, I'm talking about the National Park Service, IRS, CFPB, NOAA...

For the past few years rather than share Black history factoids instead what I’ve done is provide a prompt then people can do their own research in their own time. I’ve gotten good feedback for doing it this way

So in honor of Black History month

Today's prompt is Daisy Bates

Word: Common

Here, wolf shifter Malin is trying to convince himself to stay on task (finding an appropriate stranger to marry at the end of the ball) and stop flirting with the not-appropriate-at-all human woman in the raven mask.

Well- we definitely got snow in New Orleans today.
There have been numerous snowball fights, skiers on St Charles, people sledding with fallen road signs on the levee, a retired ice hockey player on Canal St after dark, lots of gumbo… it’s definitely been a unique day here.

Ok Nola-
If this snow thing really happens, where are we all meeting Tuesday for the official giant Nola snowball fight?
City Park? A cemetery? South Claiborne neutral ground? Crescent Park?
Let’s make this happen!

Been seeing this one going around… and the range is basically “we get nothing” to “11 inches of snowpocalypse”- looks like we are definitely in the snow cone of uncertainty. #NolaSky

I just really want a social media algorithm that shows me super cool random things I never knew I wanted to know and learns quickly from my blocking behavior to never show me anything similar to the topics and people that I want to completely ignore. Is this really too much to ask?

I caught a $6.66 on my kdp dashboard today and I had to call the husband and the teenager both over to see it.
Because I’m that kind of dork.

I dunno.. this place still feels really quiet compared to all the other places.
(Except Insta, which hates me.)

The infrastructure in New Orleans is so bad that the newspaper put out a greatest hits style article in December of a decade’s worth of local building collapses and since then, there have been more collapses.

I’m simultaneously horrified and angry at pretty much every detail that comes out about the awful mass casualty attack in New Orleans today. And nothing I’ve learned yet has surprised or shocked me.

Watching someone recommend an “editor” who has stated in the past that she “doesn’t really know the levels of editing or grammar and stuff,” she just “tells the author what she does and doesn’t like” … and… buyer beware… research who you hire… I can’t save people from themselves anymore…

Today I learned that here in Nola, we have feral chickens.
Like… I knew there were random chickens but I presumed someone owned them and just let them roam. But there are generational ferals - chickens that got loose (many during Katrina) and then just populated wild from there.

Thoughts on the whole UHC CEO thing and the general cheering on social media...
I honestly think the social reaction right now is as much about justice as it is about a person’s death.
