'BIA' was one of the few locomotives small enough to fit within the loading gauge of the goods shed sidings. This privellage was also afford to 'BRIGITTE' and 'DOMITIA'

Waiteside Castle was soon demoted from a passing point to a through-station. The old loop was turned into storage sidings.

A photo from late 1901. Woodstone had just been purchased by the L&PR and performing shunting around Portethwaite. In the new year, she would be shipped down south for a rebuild into 'BIA'.

'With only 7 coaches pre-preservation, it became difficult to have adequate space on trains when two-train running commenced. The solution was ramshackle, and consisted of cleaning out the quarry wagons and installing platform benches. Bia is photographed with a test train.'
