Many urban prairies have been under controlled burns over the last few weeks. We decided to ‘spot’ burn some of our native grasses for the first time. Here is a parking lot picture untouched VS our backyard burned prairie dropseed. The new green shoots flushed out nicely within 10 days.

After 10 inches of snow has melted, Ozark witch hazel is blooming with the recent warmup. Pollinators are coming out for the fragrant blooms.
