Solidarity from Chicago, where a whistle is in our pockets on every walk to and from school and my preschooler knows what ice/cpb is because they kidnapped parents of kids who go to her school. I never in my wildest dreams could have predicted trying to figure out how to parent through this.

Having a 5th birthday party that same day (at a park ~2 miles away) with a bunch of raspy voiced kids is something I will never forget and never, ever forgive.

When they gassed 1 block from our house this past fall we treated it like wildfire smoke (closed windows, air purifiers, aired out the house after it dissipated). Unfortunately we all still had irritated lungs, and my kid and all of her preschool friends sounded like they were pack a day smokers.

Flynn was “Linda the Fox” in our house for a very fun 3 or so months.

It definitely took us a minute to figure it out. Basically purple and orange are a family and have 2 parents, and then lala has at least one parent and is another family. And then there’s also a new otter who I don’t think has a family unit.

Wildly no? The orange one is a pheasant(?) who is an adopted sibling of the purple one. And then lala is not related to the orange and purple family.

Short summary: They moved to puffin rock due to climate change exacerbated by a bad storm destroying their old home island. Spent about a week discussing climate change on the walk to school with my preschooler after we watched the movie.

My kid asked me to call the “loud airplane owners” to see if they would turn down their engine noise because she doesn’t like it. I had to tell her that the Air Force likely would not take my call.

At this point, Mr. Rogers is the only thing she wants to watch. She was thrilled when she finally met another kid out in the wild who knew the Mr. Rogers version of “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” instead of the Daniel Tiger version.

Significant improvement over Reboyras. Happy to chat privately if you have specific questions.

My husband and I have had to *firmly* remind drivers about pedestrian right of way more times than we can count. And it shouldn’t have to be that way.

I am lucky that our alder seems to take the issue seriously, but the number of times I have had to put my body between a car and my child while we are in a crosswalk with a walk signal is staggering. My child - a preschooler- knows to ring her bell and yell stop to a car that is encroaching.

Congratulations. It truly is the very best feeling. So happy you were able to do this.

If you answer respectfully and honestly you might be sat. It was not a pleasant experience, but better me than someone who gets his news from Epoch Times I guess. At the end I found out I was alternate 1 and didn’t get to deliberate but there were good citizens on the jury who took it seriously.

Hey just a heads up as a lawyer who actually somehow got seated on a cook county murder trial jury that it might not work out the way you’re expecting. Good luck!!

LOOK AT MY BOOTS! I GOT MY SNOWSUIT ON! ITS GONNA SNOW!!!! It was the *best* way to start the day.

I wish you could feel the excitement that was vibrating off of a herd of 3-5 year olds at preschool drop off this morning. They were all yelling about the snow and wearing their boots and it was pure and adorable.

The number of people stopped in their cars in the crosswalk who look SHOCKED when the preschooler rings her bike bell or I say something to them on our way to school is mind-boggling. How are we to safely cross the street walking/on a little kid bike if not in the crosswalk?
