Finally checked out the super-local independent coffee shop 2 years after moving here in Sanxia (三峽). And wouldn't you know it... They have the carrot cake! I used to have got all the way to Taipei for that. Local coffee rules!

Skate day on Friday. I skated from Da'an (大安) north to the Songshan (松山), and then due west to the Taipei Main Station, stopping over for some Turkish take-out and a coffee shop near the station. The entire skate was 7.3 miles (11.7 km)... done at a leisurely pace.

Time to turn the culture around and paint the Right as the boring stodgy fragile disciplinarians that they are. Time to reclaim words like "freedom" and even "liberty".

On Sunday I went for a short walk with Language Walk Taipei. Their event this month is a city walk through the Wanhua (萬華) district.

Day trip to Jiufen (九份) and the Golden Waterfall (黃金瀑布), for a 3-hour hike down the mountain and along the coast. Part of the hike was trying out the Shen'ao Rail Bike.

18°C (64°F) and sunny. I'm still takin' it easy with my left ankle so I thought instead of walking I should make it a bike day! I rode my 2nd-hand road bike from Songshan (松山) back to Sanxia (三峽), about 25 miles (40 km) at a very leisurely pace. So effortless now with a road bike!

18°C (64°F) and sunny. I'm still takin' it easy with my left ankle so I thought instead of walking I should make it a bike day! I rode my 2nd-hand road bike from Songshan (松山) back to Sanxia (三峽), about 25 miles (40 km) at a very leisurely pace. So effortless now with a road bike!
