The #Chicago Cultural Center doesn't just have one amazing glass dome. There's two! This is the Preston Bradley Hall #Tiffany Dome and the adjacent entryway. Just incredible. #architecture
A huge glass dome that is predominantly blue with a floral looking motif at the center. The coffered ceiling in the entryway to the dome has incredible green and brown mosaics lining the wall with elegant cast iron lights hanging from the ceiling. One of the hanging pendant lights, which appears to be cast iron and have a tremendous amount of fine detail.

The incredible Rotunda & Dome at the Grand Army of the Republic Hall (1897) inside the #Chicago Cultural Center, which use to be a library. Simply magnificent.

Lighting #design was a missed career opportunity. I love this gorgeous #ArtDeco entry sconce from 1928 at 333 N. Michigan Ave. in #Chicago. It appears to be around 4 ft. tall!
A black and white light fixture with large vertical opaque glass pieces that narrow in 3 stages until it reaches the bottom. The fixture also has some delicate filigree.

A gripping storyline driven by the need to escape an environmental apocalypse that tackles the dynamics of human nature and family bonds in extreme circumstances. I became absorbed in the struggles of the characters.

I paid a visit to the #LurieGarden by #PietOudolf, one of my favorite #garden #designers. It's still looking like spring, and I even found a very tame bunny gorging on all the plants.
In the foreground a garden is dotted with colorful perennial bulbs. Then in the distance a large hedge lines the garden and the Chicago skyline looks over the scene.

This is one of the best #books I've read this year. "Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead" by #OlgaTokarczuk is a #NobelPrize winner by the #Polish author, and revolves around a series of murders in rural Village. It's quirky humorous, and deceptively dark.

Another great #wildflower #hike at #EagleCreekPark. It was rainy but there was plenty to see.
Prairie Trillium. A red flower head with a large green spotted leaves. Virginia Spring beauty. A small white star shaped flower head. Member of the American Groundsels and Ragworts. Small yellow flower heads. Virginia Bluebells. A right group of downward facing bell shapes flowers that are lavender.

I blew thru this #novel a week ago and parts of it still stick in my head. The ending isn't tied up with a pretty bow, which I found interesting and appreciated. Recommended reading for people tackling grief and difficulty managing the world.

Just finished #Babylonia, a wonderful #novel by #CostanzaCasati. It's a fictional account of the only female ruler of the #Assyrian empire, who rose to power from nothing. I've always been intrigued by Assyrian relief carvings for years so this hit the spot.
