I’m so glad to hear you say this. It’s a book that made me laugh (the Little Sisters of Poverty and Pain) and made me cry ( his conclusion to the story of Tristan and Isolde). A worthy and respectful homage to Malory.

As a child, I was traumatized when she left into the volcano in Bird of Paradise. Absolutely inconsolable.

I just had the same experience. Can’t say I had ever heard of him before, but his obituary was such a compelling story that I went to search for these. The only set I found had a very high price. Sounds like it might be worth it?

The first symphony is a guilty pleasure. Maybe not top-tier but so tuneful, so Bohemian, and I always laugh at how Fibich teases and stretches out his finales.
