This month’s climate story is so terrifyingly topical ☠️😱

I’m a MASSIVE fan of Harriet A. Washington’s work. Thank you, so much for A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE: ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM AND ITS ASSAULT ON THE AMERICAN MIND.

So good talking about radical imagination and the role it can play in redressing the injustices of the climate crisis. As well as what we all hope readers will take from our stories!

Thanks Selina & Joycelyn for sharing, and to the BBBF for bringing us together to talk climate justice 💪🏾📖❤️

Absolutely loved being part of the Black British Book Festival on Sunday!

I chaired the 'Rooted in Resistance: Black Voices on Climate, Nature & Radical Futures' event. Such a joy talking to Selina Nwulu (author of Black Climates) and Joycelyn Longdon (author of Natural Connection).

So good meeting new friends at Saucy Books - London's first romance bookshop!

Which is on point for Autumn 🍂 I love their high school inspired section. As teen activists prove in WE DON’T HAVE TIME FOR THIS, what's more romanic than saving the earth? 🌍❤️

Drought also means tress will get drier and more stressed.

With an increasingly warm climate, the Ips engravers are going to be very, very busy.

Thank you Mary for sharing your story!

Why are the pine trees are dying?🌲😭

As Mary writes: The culprit is a tiny pine-bark beetle no bigger than a grain of rice: the Ips beetle. Its common name is deceptively charming: engraver beetle, for the elegant, curving galleries it munches in tree bark.

BLUEBIRD SEASONS by Mary Taylor Young is this month’s climate story 🤩📖❤️

Mary’s story illustrates the 20 years of climate change impacts she witnessed from her family’s cabin in the Colorado Rockies.

When I hiked the Colorado Trail, BLUEBIRD SEASONS answered one of my biggest questions.

Leaning hard into September as I get back into writing. This morning’s peanut butter flavor: Mothernutter’s pumpkin spice 🎃🍁😋 Highly recommended!

Any #peanutbutter recommendations for the new season?

Hope your fall’s off to a good start!

This month’s climate book is THE STORY OF MORE by Hope Jahren.

We desperately need good climate stories. @realhopejahren.bsky.social’s explores how we got to climate change. And where we go from here?

**Spoiler alert**

Her answer - Use less and share more 🤩📖❤️

Happy birthday to WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS 🥳📖❤️ What a year!

It’s been wonderful to share a climate story that acknowledges where we are and imagines a safer way forward.

Thanks for being on this journey with me.

THE SIXTH EXTINCTION by @elizkolbert.bsky.social is this month’s climate book 🤩📖

I love her take on “the truly extraordinary moment in which we live” - earth’s sixth mass extinction event. Her journey to understand the impacts being felt by the non-humans we share the world with is so well done ❤️

Climate memoirs are special. They’re how my storytelling journey began. @barbaradrakevera.bsky.social was the first writer to ask me for an endorsement. Melt ❤️ Literally 😭

Barbara’s story centers her Peruvian family & her time with an Andean glacier. I so enjoyed returning there through her words.

MELTED AWAY is this month’s climate story. Thanks @barbaradrakevera.bsky.social for your memoir of climate change and caregiving in Peru ❤️📖

Each month of 2025, I’m gabbing about a climate book. We desperately need good climate stories. I’m happy to spread the word about ones that speak to me!

Can’t get over moments like this. Thank you Potter’s House!

I walked into your wonderful bookstore and saw EVERYTHING THAT RISES proudly displayed. Which felt wonderful 🤩📖❤️

Thanks for celebrating my story and helping readers find it.

For Earth Day, picking a story was easy. Thank you Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac for THE FUTURE WE CHOOSE 🌎📖❤️

Each month of 2025, I’m picking a climate book and gabbing about it. We desperately need good climate stories. And I’m happy to spread the word about ones that speak to me!

1 billion people live in the 45 LDCs. They've done the least to cause the climate crisis, yet suffer its deadliest impacts.

While the United States, which remains the largest cumulative polluter, has left the Paris Agreement - again.

Happy second birthday to EVERYTHING THAT RISES! So happy to celebrate some of the memoir's stars 🤩

My story in the UN climate negotiations began in 2011. I'm still awed by the grit of negotiators representing the Least Developed Countries.

Big snaps for Mikaela Loach author of IT’S NOT THAT RADICAL🫰🏾📖❤️

WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS is on Audible!

Me, wanting to rave about Angel Pean's performance - well done! - and ultimately highlighting why acting is NOT part of my skill set. Notice my "varied" range of facial expressions 😳🤦🏾‍♀️

Happy listening! 🎧📖❤️

The grandmother granddaughter veganism talk is hilarious. I've had that conversation! @maryannaise.bsky.social's version made me laugh out loud 🤣 Thanks for creating characters of such warmth.

I've never read a story like TROUBLED WATERS.

As promised, each month of 2025, I’ll pick a climate book and gab about it. The world desperately needs good climate stories. I'm happy to share ones that speak to me.

As promised, each month of 2025, I’ll pick a climate book and gab about it. THE PETROLEUM PAPERS is the perfect starting place for this administration.

To my fellow Americans, protest! XR has been my nonviolent civil disobedience group of choice, and it’s an honor to be named among the rebel writers 💪🏾📖❤️

Which climate justice groups organize near you? If none, perhaps it’s time to start one? 😉

It will take all of us to protect our home.

President Trump inspires me. Well, more accurately, by withdrawing the US from the Paris Agreement in 2017 - Trump pushed me over the edge. Research papers were no longer good enough. My writing needed a bigger audience.
