Oh, it’s very real. There’s one company in particular based in Los Angeles County, that I was considering buying a grinder from. Their insistence on app everything gave me the ick. I ended up finding completely low-tech and appless coffee devices.

That is one HELL of a final scene. Loved this, and it seems to have the DNA of the 1922 and 1979 films without aping them or even explicitly homaging them. Eggers did his own thing with this, and it’s terrific!
