Wes Anderson is a good example of something for sure. I haven't seen Black Bag but Soderbergh def has that in his bag. I love it when he pulls it out

Also, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang has the feel. Funny how often it's within crime films. Horror films get it every once in a while though.

I agree with all the examples here that I've seen (with the exception of Green Knight) and you're probably right. I still feel like insular masturbatory cool shit has a place as well. Even if it's just in my heart.

I can totally see that. I think earlier Kevin Smith created a space like that too at that same time. Lots of directors do that, I think. I just don't know how to find them now! Haha

Sinners is cool. I agree. I disagree with the rest of what you're recommending. I don't think I find anything cool that way haha. I find REALLY GOOD stuff but nothing with that intangible essence, of that makes sense.
