Silver jew, Chicago, Growing Edible Trees 🌰🐿️
Fall time to share and plant trees. We have lots of cool baby chestnut trees and very limited fruit trees available. Lets make chicago's future south side super abundant.

I saw about 5 of these little guys today as I added trees to CRTI's Canopy Counts map. They were hiding between mulch and plastic tree guards that needed to be cleared out for each tree. Say hello one of Chicago's native lizards, a five lined skink (juvenile)

Join us at Kenwood and/or Washington HS on April 5th to welcome spring with abundance at our spring tree giveaways. Lots of fruit, nut, and keystone species are available for adoption by any neighbors with space. Visit bit.ly/GWHSTrees25 or bit.ly/3Don3Be to reserve trees from either event.

Here's what showing up for the EPA's How's My Water Quality Tool. I planned for my AP Enviro students to investigate and identify contaminents in local bodies of water like Wolf Lake and the Calumet River but all we got was the loading wheel of death.

Year two of 'milk jug' stratification and seed starting of local ecotype prairie plants. Seeds are sown densely. Holes are drilled on top and bottom of each container. Plant now and change you local surroundings.

Our school air quality was stuck in the red all day in a 70 year old building where ventilation only happens when you open the window.

I had to stop garden setup today because my asthma was kicking up. Our students reside in Chicago areas with the highest asthma rates.
