When I read the truncated version posted, my blood boiled and I thought McWhorter missed the point of 4"33. Reading the next few sentences revealed otherwise. I don't agree completely, but understand.

How did this happen? Because many colleges are businesses and not non-profit altruistic neighbors that provide community benefits. As such, they should pay their fair share in property taxes. There is such a movement now in Massachusetts - H.2963.
