Just finished @jamesmartinsj.bsky.social book, "Come Forth" which examines the gospel account of Jesus, Lazarus, & Judaism, exploring themes of friendship,love,hope despair, faith,& new life. A persuasive look at the historicity drawing on art, scripture, biblical scholars, & personal reflections.

Just finished Pope Francis's autobiography, "Hope," which recounts his life, exploring themes of joy, suffering, forgiveness, & God's love. It offers reflections on sin, humility, human dignity, globalization, war, technology, & the universality of the Church thru unity of service & evangelization.

Attended a fascinating lecture this evening titled, “A Muslim Theologian Teaching at a Catholic University”, by Amir Hussain, Professor of Theological Studies at Loyola Marymount University, and how non-Christians, not to mention non-Catholics, can contribute to the mission of Catholic universities.

Perhaps a simple allegory on politics & religion. A well-intentioned Christmas gift from my kids - a Lee Greenwood (Trump Inauguration Edition) King James version Bible. Perhaps having the Bible blessed will invoke the fruits of the Holy Spirit on those it reflects.

A joy for my wife, Sharon and I to attend today's Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King and witness Bishop Crosby solemnly open the Holy Year and bless a replica of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica which will be displayed throughout the Jubilee Year of Hope.
