Actually it's 10%

Amazon paid $8 billion for a dead parrot?

Heavenly bombs and fall on Slough?

This is why Greenland doesn't have any roads but apart from one peninsular in Scotland all UK settlements have been connected for centuries. Now the issue is expanding roads and water supplies etc to support a growing population

Doesn't Word do that?

I had a pdf containing 15 Neruda odes on subjects like Wine, Salt and A Large Tuna in the Market. I've scarcely used AI but I clicked the Summarise button out of curiosity and it gave a short (100 word or so) critique of every ode. Only howler was saying the tuna rested among the OTHER vegetables

It does say low "growth" and it was only the high figure for 74-79 that made me read the small print. Since it makes what was the worst post war period for the UK economy look like the best period to the casual reader, it is less than ideal

Your loss then

Maybe they should just axe Panorama since people who really want to be informed get it all from Radio 4 anyway
November 9, 2025 at 9:13 PM
Since this is about the only figure I have ever seen which shows nominal gdp growth rather than real growth, there is an almost Panorama-level of misdirection here

the double digit inflation from 74 to 79 was not as great as it looks on the plot

Council tax is spent locally so unless Mayfair gets four bin collections a day there wouldn't be much point
November 9, 2025 at 1:02 PM
A mansion tax based on the price the property last changed hands would be fairly easy to collect (no revaluations needed) and not too punitive on retirees who are asset rich and cash poor. Doubt it would raise much though

He should buy some ad space in @newyorker.com otherwise they will probably need a whole dedicated edition to express their hatred for him

If you keep count of unfinished ebooks you must be a lot more organised than I am. I know that my last one was Return of the Native.

Why doesn't he decorate it with crypto?

There are other stories that don't mention trans at all
November 8, 2025 at 5:15 PM
It might be more prudent to do it over zoom

Also, the most moronic feature of the current system is the overtaxation from £100k to £125k and restrictions on salary sacrifice would make this a lot worse
