IT guy by day, keyboard player and occasional instrumental composer otherwise. Once found myself at a piano in Abbey Road Studio 2.
I am old enough to think that a "firmware update" for a monitor should not be a thing... Also old enough to think that plugging a laptop into a monitor should never cause the laptop to flat out crash and die... The continued joys of USB-C...

When age verification is this reliable country hopping with VPN becomes attractive... Now... I "get" why posts with a more adult theme may be behind verification but the chat/DM feature? No gold stars for KWS (Epic) or Bluesky.

Maybe should've tagged @frame.work in that last post. Nevermind. TL;DR: Replaced screen I somehow damaged a while ago, new SSD, Artix Cinnamon OpenRC ISO on USB stick, Install, Reboot, Join Wi-Fi. Easy peasy. Fave laptop again.

While ago I somehow managed to damage screen of Framework laptop but wasn't 100% that was the problem. Just popped in new screen and new SSD and voila! Working! Grabbed Artix Cinnamon OpenRC ISO, installed and after reboot joined WiFi no fuss. It's my fave laptop again!

Last few weekends have been mostly filled with a mix of programming MainStage patches that I think I'll use in June and Amiga 68000 coding. I can see this continuing for the next three weekends. Then I'll be going over to Wales to play a gig the weekend after. But now there's a Friday to deal with.

The techie in me can hardly wait for the next release of macOS for one simple reason. I want a fighting chance to be able to spell the name of it easily. Please Apple no more than two vowels together please! 😀

Took just one day back "at work" and suddenly afterwards I feel the need to get the MainStage laptop out after a month being untouched in the flight case just to feel like I'm a musician rather than a tech person. Applied update to Sonoma and bunch of virtual instruments and damn I'm techie again!

Late last week decided to add my Native Instruments collection (last update 4 years ago) to the laptop. Native Access v3 looks and acts better than v2 but not great at getting everything from scratch. Managed to grab v1 which worked better. First rehearsal with MainStage at weekend went well.

OK, think have a basic MainStage laptop now. Sonoma updates, MainStage, Arturia V Collection X, Spectrasonics Keyscape. 42 GB used of 256 GB internal storage, 274 GB used of 2 TB external storage (data/sound library drive, Crucial X9 Pro). Hours of fun auditioning sounds ahead.

Honestly find it hard to believe that despite having used every Macintosh system software from 6.7 onwards when it comes to a "new machine" I'm having to search the Internet for how to make settings changes. Every other device has had Monterey or earlier so my initial config was easy.

Setting up brand new M3 MacBook Air for MainStage usage. Luckily "only" shipped with Sonoma which is compatible with the software I want to use. Unfortunately that means I have System Settings on a personal device which has the most confusing UI of any Apple settings software ever. IMHO.

A long long time ago, when I was born a TSB savings account was opened in my name. When I started to earn money I opened a TSB current account. These became Lloyds TSB accounts and more recently Lloyds Bank accounts. Considering "moving back" to TSB as the new app is a mess IMHO.
