Shared HC/GM in a league with centralised scouting and contracts makes a lot of sense. But firing all GMs when only 2 teams have head coaches is an awkward way to transition to it.

If they wanted to honour all of the Trek series in the finale, it would've been nice if they could've done a multi-timeline story. Kind of similar to "All Good Things" but involving the multiple ships/crews. It'd be way too expensive for a cancelled TV show to do on short notice though.

I mean, even in a really down year we should medal. And if we get to the final, you never know. Losing to them every time except the gold medal game is possible, and would be a fun storyline.

So is this high school running a pro offense, or are the Colts running a high school offense?

They had 13 teams in 1995. Pretty surprising to see a quadruple header in the 9 team era.

That Als team played some exciting football that year. They pushed Flutie's Argos right to the limit in the East final.

Yes. The reason they want to move is to cut costs. A portion of their cost savings come from axing those programs, with the other portion coming from less travel expenses for the rest.

I don't see them then adding a very expensive sport with expensive travel as part of a cost saving plan.

They were beyond terrible. They were the worst team in NCAA Div II, and they were routinely stomped by their peers.

Their only recent wins came against Div III teams, plus one other Div II program that folded before they did.

Agreed. They're looking to move to CW to save money, and planning to cut 3 sports as part of that move. Starting up the football team from scratch would be quite costly, and the optics would be very poor if they did it at the same time as cutting other sports.

Erosion of local and national media certainly hurts a Canadian product operating in Canadian markets. The fact that some of the national media ignores them doesn't help. Cheaper to pick up foreign content than to pay a reporter here.

It seems they've decided to not fund the office that deals with the recalls and verifying these signatures. They'll end up being slammed and not have the resources to manage it.

If their political enemies were the ones being recalled, the funding would be there.

It'd be a bit odd to build another small stadium a couple km away from Leibel.

They were in big trouble once the Bombers ditched them.

Definitely not as convenient as being on the ctrain line. It is interesting that NSL decided to use McMahon once the new turf was put in.

Casting is so good for both!

Hamilton seems to be working well with a shared stadium and ownership. Ottawa shares a stadium but not an ownership group.

Halifax's CanPL team wanted to build a small stadium to prevent the CFL from coming in. So I'm skeptical about an era of new stadiums shared by CanPL and CFL teams.
November 19, 2025 at 10:55 PM
Yeah, it is amusing how some of the CFL rules change talk says it was done because the future will see the CFL and CanPL working together to get new stadiums. Yet one of the two CanPL teams that began with CFL ownership ended up being kicked to the curb.
November 19, 2025 at 10:52 PM
Good point. However, a lot of Grey Cup champions get their roster raided by other teams thanks to the CFL's short term contracts. If players are really set on running it back in Regina, they may need to turn down more money elsewhere to stay. That'll be the test of how much they want to repeat.

He frustrates me that way. When he's on TV, his enthusiasm for the game really shines through, adding to his fairly solid analysis. Put him behind a keyboard and the vibe totally changes.

Good at analysis, bad at social media and hot takes.

They absolutely blew the roll out, and now they're in damage control mode. It'll take an awful lot of damage control to undo their self inflicted wounds.

First impressions are important. Stewart Johnson's first big public event made people see him as an untrustworthy villain.
