My ex-partner was a Blake's 7 fan when he was a kid. His mum referred to it as 'shaky spaceships'. As the years passed it became her go-to expression for anxiety, as in 'I'm feeling a bit shaky spaceships today'. We both use the phrase in the same way to this day.

Thanks for the link, and it's great news, but these are still just anecdotes. I guess it will take time to get a real sense of how effective these boycotts are, how hard they hit.

These are anecdotes. Very nice ones, but evidence? Source?

Yes, I think Alfie Bass made an appearance as a petty crook.

Also Sidney James, cast against type as a nuclear physicist based at Aldermaston. It didn't quite work

I sank years of my life online trying to get SQ (snigger quietly) to go mainstream. Maybe it deserved to fail

'Beneath Blackfriars Bridge' (Alexander Mackendrick, 1960). Something of a flop at the time.

"Trump is like Captain Quint in Jaws. He’s vulgar, he’s salty, he might even get drunk ... But hold on here: he’s the guy who’s gonna save your butt and save your family. And so, at the end of the day, when he kills the shark, you’re happy about it.” Mike Huckabee, 2016.
