For the most part, civil disobedience is ineffective. It feels good, but rarely results in changing anything. If you want to change things, you have to participate in the political process.

They definitely shouldn't have boycotted because Republicans would have just spread out and filled some of their side. Walking out as one of their own was escorted out is the way to go.
