I've just read this article in The Guardian this morning. Why do the media never address the real problem in the justice system. Years of underfunding from successive Tory governments is the real reason for the backlog, nothing to do with jury trials.

Surprising to hear that a government formed exclusively of a country’s most stupid people isn’t really working out.

Whenever it is pointed out that US government may not get its own way in court, some reply guy asserts I am “optimistic”.

I am a legal commentator: I am never optimistic.

I have a Brummie accent: I never sound optimistic.

This all could very badly for the courts and rule of law.

Not optimism.

As Honest Bob Jenrick tours the country repeating far-right conspiracy talking points about “two-tier sentencing”, here is the letter his own government sent to the Sentencing Council last year approving the very Guidelines he now claims are evidence of “two-tier Keir”.

The man is a fraud.

The test of basic legal literacy in the UK is whether you think UK judges use gavels.

Not a single person involved in the production and publication of this cartoon would pass that test.
This whole rule of law thing and the UK Govt having to respect legal commitments (which in most of the recent "controversial" cases, have been imposed on it by Parliament, and applied by the courts). The Telegraph has only found out about all this, and they're very unhappy.

With the utmost sympathy to the relatives of anyone brutally murdered, there is absolutely no way sentencing is going yo take place in E&W courts with a disruptive and violent defendant in the dock. No chance whatsoever.

Absolutely right. In fact the Times hasn't stopped it's easy on Starmer since July 5th and don't even bother listening to Times Radio. It's laughable.
Today is an object lesson in the radicalisation of the British right-wing press. Britain is being disparaged and insulted by a foreign far-right conspiracy theorist. But the Mail, the Express, the Telegraph and even the Times choose focus their criticisism on the British prime minister instead.

Yet another part of the UK being sold off for short term gain. I really do fear what will happen in this country if Europe turns on us. We are self-sufficient in nothing. It's frightening and nobody gives a
