I am a chartered civil engineer and a PhD student at UCD. I live in Dublin.
I enjoy brewing beer, reading books, playing old video games, and watching old sitcoms. I wish I was on a train.
Show up half an hour early for work pints - sitting on my own at the reserved table for two hours before the next person shows up.
Show up ten minutes late for work pints - everyone is there when I arrive and the table is full, meaning I have to stand for the night.

Articles like this annoy me when they start quoting journey times as if they are universal understood to be unacceptable. My normal commute by bus this morning was 1 hour and 10mins door to door around Dublin. It was 9.4km. There are no plans mooted that would shorten it.

'We've done all we can do to fix M50,' warns TII
Transport Infrastructure Ireland says there is almost nothing it can do to address traffic gridlock on the M50, while accepting that the road has reached capacity

I've been watching Tintin (the 1991 series) and...that is not the the voice for him that I remember seeing on The Den. Not just didn't remember him being so Canadian, but its jarring this is not my Tintin. There is no mention anywhere of another English dub. Am I going mad?

Remember the days when some evening there’d be a documentary on BBC 2 on giraffes and whatever way it was scheduled everyone watched it and the next day in work we’d all be experts on giraffes.

Well that was helpful, I tried the Indo’s tool to find which presidential candidate agrees with me because I’m torn between too “perfectly cromulent” candidates. They both agree with 70% of my views. Grrr.

The "mystery year" on @rtegold.bsky.social this morning was 1996, now they are playing some Alanis Morrisette and I am 14 again! And crying over my lost youth.

Children of the sun, see your time has just begun. Searching for your way to adventure every day.
Every day and night, with the condor in flight
With all your friends in tow
You search for the cities of gold.

One for all and all for one can sound pretty corny. If you got a problem chum, think how it can be.

Stuck in a world of nostalgia, my life is all millennium 50ps, cartoons on TCC and Batman trading cards with rock hard bubblegum. Send Opal Fruits.

Once I called a guy in work Hugh but his name was Ciarán. To cover up my mistake i started mispronouncing the word “you” as “Hugh”. Ciarán probably thought “ahhh he didn’t get my name wrong he just has a weird accent”.
Success!
Everyone else probably thought it was the first sign of brain damage.
