I think the assumption in equating fat squirrels with cold winters is they need more fat to stay alive through a very cold winter. But the point wasn't whether or not it was true, more to avoid treating anecdotes as data.

I agree Elon is no jewel in the RS’s crown, but I think there’s a non sequitur in ‘and therefore an exemplar’ - there have always been dodgy Fellows, they’ve just changed from being aristocrats to billionaires.
