I acknowledge that issue. I don't think anything changes because of that. Unless you want to assume the optimal amount of driving is zero.

When you buy a product, you pay twice:

1. Money to the company
2. Time to actually use it

Most economics ignores #2.

With Tom Phelan and Nick Pretnar, we show how this consumer time use changes markups, firm entry, and efficiency. 🧵 www.briancalbrecht.com/Albrecht_Phe...

The C&S divestiture was always a key part of whether this deal would go through. If Kroger really just ignored concerns, that's not a good strategy.

My advise on tariffs

1. Don't tax intermediate goods
2. Don't tax everything under the sun

Prospect theory is wrong as a theory of choice between lotteries. And we've already had the evidence for decades!

A new paper by Bouchouicha, Oprea, Vieider, and Wu shows how.

Basically, everyone assume valuation experiments were just like choice experiments www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/y0spy...

Yesterday’s WaPo oped on inflation is completely confused.

E.g. pic 1: thats exactly what we’d see from a demand increase too

Pic 2: No. The price level would be higher, not permanent inflation. In fact, we’d see deflation if it was all supply www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Politicians have turned their backs on economics, but economic forces haven't changed.

Yesterday I gave a talk at my alma mater, St Olaf. It was a blast to talk with the faculty and students.

Plus I got to check out the new football facilities, modest by D1 standards but extravagant compared to my time.
