The two exaggerated cuts in the mark add a wildness to the identity—this is emphasised by cropping and scaling the tail to create further naturalistic forms. These are layered and combined with people and animals to represent our connections with nature across the extended IWT #visualidentity.

The tail symbolises how the IWT acts with integrity and balance, its commitment to protect and restore nature, and its use of advocacy and education to communicate with its diverse audience.

The mark is an abstract depiction of the bushy tail, common to Irish species like the #Fox #RedSquirrel and #PineMarten. This type of #tail provides the #animal with balance, protection from the cold, and allows #species to communicate with each other.

The visual goal was to create a new inspirational #visualidentity that represents #wildness, people’s connection to #nature and has the flexibilty to encompass the various organisational strands of the Trust.

While their original #logo, depicting a deer, had served them well, it was ill-equipped to represent the Trust in today’s #digital world. The depiction of only one #species also limited the perception of the organisation.
