One note: MPSC commissioner Katherine Peretick brought up that both Consumers and DTE provide a discount for customers 65 and older, although she said they don't advertise it widely. She said this only amounts to $5 a month, but every dollar counts, especially this winter.

Meanwhile, Consumers Energy customers will have to deal with an 8% gas rate increase and regulators are weighing over a $1 billion in proposed electric rate increases for Consumers and DTE customers.
