to be free. and once I was finally released from the white supremacist shackles, I still needed years to learn how to properly care for hair. multiple things can be true at once. let’s give each other grace; it takes time and effort to get to where a lot of us are with hair journey.

it took me years and a lot of unpacking to final love my type 4 hair. I had to ask myself why I felt the need to silk press or slick my hair back until I literally had no edges left. it was uncomfortable accepting that my insecurities stemmed from antiblackness, but I had to be honest with myself+

whether you have a pro-natural stance or anti-natural stance (maybe not the best term but stay with me), each side has valid points, especially when we consider how ppl tend to treat and critique every aspect of a Black woman’s existence.
