Proud dad. First secondary school report (daughter top line, year group average below). Best subjects so far, French and Geography, but on target for all subjects. Her favourite probably, tech, which is very hands on building stuff.

Local England flags are gone from lampposts, and it feels like oppression lifting. We put up some xmas lights (EU flag has been there since 2016)

For my 60th in April I went up to Arbor Low to ask the ancestors WTAF...no answer, but it was a nice day/walk. Picked up some books at nearby bookshop. Anyway, Reform and Trump and Putin are the enemy

Morning. Il pleut. Storm someone or other. Might top up the reservoirs. Hoping there will be no flood damage. We live on a hill, though the drainage on the road has been blocked for the past decade, so ...

We've worked hard with my daughter to create habitat for them, and water sources. Here's one by one of our mini-ponds during the heatwave. She'd spend the day there, staying cool and drinking, in the shade

Morning. I suppose we do have to start taking these guys down... though the state of the world seems to call for permanent Halloween decorations...

Reviewing the new Derby planning proposals, not sure you can still call racecourse park a 'green wedge' given so much of it is now soccer pitches, many of them not grass. Certainly not accessible to non soccer playing people

Of course he did. Fart rump jr never misses an opportunity to talk Britain down www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cd... Anyway, 760 million quid is about £11 per person in Britain. I'd pitch in to pay it if the govt would reply with one well raised finger to Trump's threats

Well, we found the beginning of the rainbow (Bakewell, Derbyshire), and some nice Autumn colours. Have a good Sunday!

It's nice to see that the information racks at Reform UK led County Hall in Matlock, Derbyshire contain some decent information

Fear not if you have no expensive vermicompost kit, for in time the verms shall cometh unto you. You can also get worms from tackle shops, I believe.

Breakfast (with coffee, of course). Morning. ☕

Morning. More of the formerly green tomatoes are ready to go in tonight's soup (alongside potatoes, sweet red peppers, and probs beans). Garden still giving. Might even make crumble with the apples, or perhaps tarte tatin?
October 21, 2025 at 7:19 AM
The perennial sunflowers are glorious. The ate apples crisp and tart. A few other flowers are still out, as the garden settles into Autumn. Good morning. Daughter training for indoor cricket season tonight.
