Ik ken maar één nummer van The Mountain Goats, maar dat is wel een banger.

Zeker leuk, maar al van 2017. Heeft helaas geen vervolg gekregen na het eerst seizoen.

I suspect many developers use SDKMan to install a specific JDK version and never bother to install the updates as they come out (every 3 months). If you must use SDKMan (or install manually?!), set a reminder to install updates.

Or just use a package manager that gets you the update versions. 😉

I maintain most of the JDK ports in MacPorts (ports.macports.org/search/?q=op...) and if you use any of those, you'll automatically get the latest updates whenever you update your ports.

(You do use a package manager, right? And you do also actually use it to keep your software up-to-date, right?)

The author also doesn’t seem to know that the JDK has moved on beyond HttpURLConnection and comes with HttpClient since 2018 (Java 11). No mention of records either.

I already stopped reading after seeing the recommendation for Lombok. 🤷‍♂️

Spring RestClient / WebClient are not HTTP client implementations, just HTTP client abstractions. If Apache HttpClient is on the classpath, it will be used under the hood when you use RestClient.

This made me think it would be great to have this as a BOM artifact for application projects. spring-boot-dependencies comes close, but doesn’t provide versions for Spring Cloud a d Spring Modulith for instance. What do you think?

I agree it’s nice, but wouldn’t it be even more useful to have a BOM artifact that would automatically provide all of these managed versions for an application project?

Wouldn’t it be cool to have a BOM that provides version management for all of these projects, so an app could upgrade to a newer generation by just updating one version?

Dacht ik eerst ook, maar leek toch later wel echt een hond. Er stond ook een drinkbak. Of misschien een hond van steen?

Brixton and Edgware. Although it would be cool if Death and Glory were the correct answers. 😎

Sorry about that. 😕 I’m glad I got custom plugs made before I started playing live with Thistle Sifter this year. 😬 But thanks!
