As though I didn't have enough reasons to love my #Framework. They've always had first class #linux support, but this investment back into the community demonstrates the commitment they have to open, sustainable technology.

The same designer has an awesome Tetris double knit scar and it looks like she’s using the same yarn as I am and now I gotta me this too. For myself though.

Trump really is a unique kind of evil genius. Seeing anger and frustration among his base start to build about the economy and other kitchen table issues, he takes the shooting of two members of the Nation Guard by an Afghan national as an opportunity to try to explicitly redirect that anger and […]

TFW you’ve got your computer on your lap and a ray of low winter sun comes in at a shallow angle and it’s suddenly obvious that your screen and keys are horribly filthy.

Alright, I'm just gonna admit it: daily journalling plus LLM-assisted summaries is IMO *really* useful. I try to journal regularly (and regularly fail but...), and I tend to write quite a lot when I do, and being able to summarize those entries as a method of self-reflection and […]

The party of personal accountability sure seems to do it's best to avoid it at all costs:

#startrek scarf #knitting update.

I cast this on three weeks ago to the day, and this evening I finally got to the halfway mark!

It’s been such a labour of love but I’m really happy with how it’s all turning out, and I’m especially pleased with the beads […]

So I remember coming across the idea a while back that, in economic and financial systems, for many good reasons, the optimal amount of fraud is not, in fact, zero:

And somehow it only occurred to me today that the exact same […]

Looking at the hall of fame for #hyprland and it just occurred to me that they're making the movie Hackers real. Remember all that silliness when each cast member would open their machine and it was all super 90s techno-cool and customized? Yeah. That's hyprland, just higher res... #linux

You know, getting the COVID and Flu vaccines two days before a work trip might not have been the best idea... 🤒

This is amazing. For the layman: immunotherapy activates the immune system to attack tumors. But your immune system has to already be trained to attack them. That isn't always the case.

Cue the nRNA COVID vaccine. Give it to someone with an untrained immune system, then hit them with […]

Woop Knack and Rutherford (I'm in Anirniq) won! That undecided vote really must've broken hard for Knack. I know the late polling was looking a little concerning but given the huge pool of undecided voters, I remained optimistic and it's nice to see I wasn't disappointed! #yeg #yegvotes

So I have a Moka pot, an aeropress, a 9barista, a French press, and a drip machine (and I use all but the french press... they're just way too much of a pain to clean). And as I idly consider getting a V60 I realized I'm maybe just a #coffee maker collector...

Fun fact: dip bars are great for jelly making (in this case crabapple). I may not be using them to, you know, exercise right now, but they still come in handy!

So... is it crazy to think moderate and left wing Albertans need to sign up for the UCP party and vote in their leadership elections and reviews?

Like, absent an effective opposition party in #alberta, the only real way to control our democracy is to control the UCP. So wrestling power away […]

Part of me has been really tempted to get back into playing Go, but when I play turn-based go ala DGS I find myself obsessively thinking about my games all the time, and playing in real time or in person is a level of time commitment I’m not sure I’m ready for.

On the other hand, as I am about […]

On the one hand, I could really use a break from colour work #knitting -- I'm a thrower and not coordinated enough to work the alternate strand with my left hand so fair isle requires a lot of dropping and picking up the working yarn, which is tedious and really slows me down -- but as I […]

TIL the #edmontonoilers 50/50 only pays out ~20% to the EOCF (which then has it's own substantial overheads).

Where does the other ~30% go?

So #canada has been #elbowsup for the past six months and so the #cfl commissioner and the ownership figure now is a good time to announce they're gonna Amerianize the league. That's a bold move, Cotton.
