I know you are so eager to blame the black lady but if she ruled the other way they would have gone over her head and got the stay anyway- you don’t know how it works but are full of self righteous venom

I love “chose not to work”- as though raising children with a parent who career includes lots of time away from home is nothing- and somehow he put up with a non working wife for years without leaving

Would working with an expired permit be considered a deportable offense?

That’s why it is important to communicate more and have more Mamdani style communicators pushing the Democratic agenda- even if Mamdani is too left for some, where is the moderate Democratic equivalent?

One thing we need they need to understand is that social media is fast moving and has a short attention span so it better to be active and speak plainly even if you end up making the occasional gaffe and say nothing and make no impact- Trump and the right understand this
August 24, 2025 at 4:42 PM
One of the downsides of social media is that Democratic politicians are overly sensitive to online blowback and criticism and therefore overly cautious, which means they say nothing at all, allowing the right to define them and take up oxygen

Better to have a “live and let live” approach to language and also give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to inclusive, but relatively new language
August 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM
People interact online with a left-coded person who angrily scolds them about language which was fine a year ago but somehow bad today and it will effect their view of the “left”/Democrats
August 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM
I don’t think it so much that inclusive language is used but how it is used- it is one thing to use the desired pronouns of individuals another to get upset when someone else uses pregnant women instead of pregnant people.

And they get the same vote that you or I do- you don’t have to have core values or beliefs to vote, you can vote on “vibes”
August 24, 2025 at 1:39 PM
It doesn’t matter that you aren’t an elected official- like sports, for instance, people’s opinions about a team are not just shaped by the particular player but their interactions with their fans and other associated with the team. Like it or not- that is how non-political people view politics
August 24, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Both moderate and left politicians/pundits spend too much time attacking each other, rather than pushing an affirmative agenda to those masses who aren’t political- who are we? What are our beliefs? When Dems don’t communicate, it gives our enemies the opportunity to define us to the majority
August 24, 2025 at 1:12 PM
In our social media age- politics are blurred with culture- people who don’t follow politics regularly don’t look at what only politicians say, but what people who are so-called “liberal/left coded” say online- and the right and others are happy to label us with the most unpopular stances
August 24, 2025 at 1:12 PM
The only way to fix it is that Dem politicians need to get better about communicating an affirmative agenda- what do we has a party believe, and than stand by it firmly- because Dem politicians do not effectively communicate our vision on social media, we let others define us
August 24, 2025 at 1:02 PM
I think what people need to understand that, in part because we have a weak, reactive, Dem leadership and in part because of the nature of social media which blurs lines between culture and politics that what official Dems pols say matter than what people hear “left-coded” people say online

His felony may affect his ability to see her in Canada if/when she is sent back
July 7, 2025 at 3:58 PM
The Trump campaign lied and said that Biden let in millions of criminals illegally during his four years in office- the fact that they have to reach back to Clinton era immigration offenders to make quotas reveals the lie

My understanding is that she came to the US at 10, was first removed at 19, and came back over the border a few months later and has been here since

Given this so-called Big Beautiful Bill is moving towards passage despite the majority of the public being in opposition, I wish I could believe public support of USAID could win over the majority of Congress in thrall to Trump but I doubt it
July 1, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Voices that not only Trump would not listen to, but in the case of Obama would go out of his way to do the opposite
July 1, 2025 at 3:14 PM
If anything having Obama (or even Bush) would have a negative effect on keeping USAID open given Trump is one in charge, and the voters who put him there bear the blame,

No problem I think a lot of us Biden voters wanted it to be true. I know that for me, in 2028 I won’t support anyone in the primaries born before 1958, no matter how much I like them otherwise- the mental and physical toll of the job make it too risky.
May 20, 2025 at 10:41 PM
Good point- arguably Bernie’s age made it somewhat harder to raise the issue in the 2020 primaries. Really, no one born in 1940s had any business running for president in 2020, yet here we are

At the end of the day, neither his family nor his inner circle could force him to make a decision he did not to make- they couldn’t drop out for him
May 20, 2025 at 10:14 PM
Biden never said he would be a one-term president-voters in 2020 simply chose to believe that he made promises he didn’t make. The reality is that Biden’s birthdate was no secret, and voters should have known that voting for someone past the average life expectancy was inherently risky
