I remember seeing the “Entartete Kunst” (degenerate art) exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago when I was in high school or undergrad and thinking about how frightened the Nazis were of art. (And how awful their taste was.)

There are uses of “master” that I think aren’t related to the concept of slavery, for example, a Master of Fine Arts degree, a master class, or a masters division in sports. None of those uses of master are related exclusively to race or gender.
