He was also legitimately awesome in the second half against the Chargers; had three great drives against the Texans, including multiple unreal throws; and in the Denver game was basically told to do anything other than give the ball away.

Kraft went from "this is my fault" to "Belichick didn't teach Mayo to be a Head Coach in one year's time while also being the Head Coach" in the span of 24 hours.

I don't think his play calling, play design, or game plans have been particularly good. I get that the personnel group has significant limitations (particularly along the OL), but you have to hope for some improvement. Only reason I'm leaning toward wanting him to come back is continuity for Drake.

The only silver linings this season are Maye and the fact that, in his efforts to prove he was just as responsible for the Patriots' success (firing Belichick, trashing him to other teams, the Apple doc, naming Mayo HC and Wolf GM without a search, etc.) Kraft has definitively proven he was not.

Remembering at this moment the Wickersham Belichick article where everyone got pissed off because Belichick thought he was a better GM than Terry Fontenot.

He wanted full control of the program, NFL teams weren't willing to give that to him, so he went where he could get what he wanted.
Not sure I understand the pearl-clutching over him feeling like he knows more than the guy who signed Kirk Cousins to a $100 million deal and drafting Penix 9th.

Literally from the article: "He knows there are politics, the way there are politics in the NFL, and challenges to building a team, but they feel manageable and worth the risk."
